In the First® Robotic Competition there is the robot competition, but also different prizes. One of these prizes is intended to reward a mentor for his or her involvement and influence with the young members of a team.
At Robo’Lyon, after consultation, the team decided to present Nicolas Vernaton for this prize.

Nicolas took part in the creation of the Robo’Lyon team in 2015, when he was in 2nd year at the NdB high school and he continued his commitment during his 3 years of high school. In 2017, his investment enabled the team to win the Montreal regional and especially the Chairman’s award.

He is now 21 years old and is studying mechanical engineering, more specifically plastics processing, at the INSA in Lyon. We offered him the opportunity to register for this prize because he has been involved with the team for years, is always ready to help others and accompanies us in this great adventure that is Robo’Lyon even today.

“What interests me about becoming a mentor after being part of the team is that I can continue to invest myself fully in the team while being involved in my studies. »

Robo’lyon enabled Nicolas to learn and train in many fields (CAD, mechanics…) and to join the prestigious engineering school he wanted. On the strength of what Robo’Lyon has brought him, Nicolas has always wanted to give back to the team, by initially joining as an Alumni, and recently by becoming a Team Mentor: he brings his knowledge and his new skills, his goal is to allow everyone to experience what he himself has experienced.

“I am motivated by the opportunity I have to pass on all the knowledge I acquired as a student. I try to push the students to surpass themselves as much as possible. »

He is always there for us and is a driving force for the whole team.

Nicolas has many projects:
– He wishes to create and animate the Alumnis community (the number of alumni is now around 70): to keep in touch with the alumni, to share contacts, especially in the search for internships and much more. He already has several contacts who are highly motivated by this initiative.
– He would like to propose an Alumnis / current students sponsorship system so that each student can count on the alumni to train and use their Robo’Lyon experience in their research or pursuit of higher education.
“This sponsorship system hides a great potential of help for everyone, Nicolas tells us.

– To use its experience of Robo’Lyon team creation and competition to help the creation of new teams and the development of a regional team in France. Nicolas is in contact with Gabriel Bran Lopez, founder of Youth Fusion in Quebec, as well as Robotics First Quebec and the Quebec Robotics Festival. Gabriel Bran Lopez has been living in France since February 2018 and his mission is to apply the Youth Fusion model in France and to create a First regional in France.

We believe that Nicolas, by his experience, his motivation and his charisma, is the best person to represent us.
