Discovering the FIRST® Tech Challenge
A new group has formed to take part in the world's largest robotics competition for 12 to 18 year-olds.

A group of young robotics enthusiasts has formed at Notre-Dame de Bellegarde to take part in the largest robotics competition in the world for 12 to 18 year-olds: the FIRST® Tech Challenge (FTC).
“Robotics is the future!” With this enthusiasm, our three teams, the RBL Tech Makers, the RBL Snoops and the RBL Engineer Force, have embarked on the FTC adventure. Their goal: design, build and program a robot able to take on the complex challenges of the competition.
The teams meet every Saturday at Notre-Dame de Bellegarde to work on their robots. Students learn computer-aided design (CAD), programming (in Java and Blocks) and teamwork.
“We learn to solve problems, to communicate and to adapt to the unexpected,” says one team member.
The RBL Tech Makers and the RBL Snoops have earned their ticket to the Défi Robotique, to be held on 22 March in Lyon, at the Double Mixte. They hope to qualify for the world championship in Houston.
Each team is now working on improving its robot to make it as competitive as possible. Good luck to them!
